Someone needs me…

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

This post is for my entrepreneur and commission based sales friends… I used to have a really hard time asking for business. Don’t get me wrong…that didn’t stop me from being successful in several businesses but I wonder how much MORE successful I could have been if I had known then what I know now. THEN, I knew I was good at selling houses. I knew I was good at training real estate agents. I knew I was good at “problem solving” consulting for non profit organizations and large teams. I knew I was good at coaching teenagers, parents, speakers and trainers. But when it came time to “ask for the business” I often became immobilized. THEN, I worried what people would think if I asked them to list their home with me. I worried that people would think me too “salesy” if I offered my services. I worried that people would judge me. I cared so much about what they thought about me that it held me back from offering to help people who really needed me! NOW I know I am good enough. That whatever someone thinks of me is their business not mine. That it is my responsibility/my calling to offer my gifts to other people. NOW I know that I am worthy. NOW I know that someone out there needs what I have to offer and it’s my job to find them. So every morning I wake up and think… “someone needs me today. How will I find them?” And then I take action. It’s changed everything for me.  I have a note on my computer left over from the transitional days from THEN to NOW that says: “What would the ‘good enough, I don’t care what people think’ Linda do?” I leave it there for the times any little bit of self doubt creeps in and threatens to hold me back from what I KNOW I’m here to do. Someone needs you today. What are you going to do to find them? I believe in you.  ...

Momentum

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

One of the keys to a successful business (and personal life as well!) is building momentum…and building it in the direction you want to go! Stop for a minute. Right now.  Take a deep breath and feel where you are. Notice whether you’ve been breathing deeply or shallowly… Notice what you feel in your body. Notice whether your mind is racing. Pay attention to your thoughts. You are building momentum in a direction – is it where you want to go? Momentum isn’t just toward positive outcomes.  It’s just as easy to create momentum in a direction we DON’T want to go. So…take a minute several times throughout your day and ask yourself if the thoughts you’re thinking and the actions you’re taking are leading you to create momentum in the direction you want to go. If not, stop…take corrective action and get going in the direction you want! I believe in you!...

Is it time to get a J.O.B?

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

Time for a reality check. Are you really committed to being in business for yourself? Or just interested? On a scale of 1-10, how committed are you to overcoming whatever’s holding you back and making your vision a reality? (HINT: If your answer isn’t a resounding 10 or above, it may be time to get out that resume and start applying for a J.O.B!) OR if your answer isn’t a resounding 10 because you don’t know what you’re committing to overcoming…you need to get some clarity about your big vision, why you want it, and what’s holding you back. THEN you’ll know whether you’re willing to commit to making your dream a reality. There’s no shame in deciding you’re not going to be in business for yourself.  It isn’t for everyone. And you’re not a failure if you want to be in business for yourself and do not aspire to make millions! The first step is knowing what you want. If you could create your life the way you’d want it – how does it look? Steady paycheck? Predictable routine? Going to an office every day? Working alone or with a team? The next is knowing what you’re passionate about! If you only had a few more years left to live on the planet, how would you like to spend them? Are you passionate about bringing health to mid life women? Zumba to the masses? Clean water to the world? Helping people create stronger marriages? Teaching people to be better parents? Coaching entrepreneurs on the sales process? What makes your heart sing? Now you have to look at what’s between you and that thing you’re passionate about! Is it strategy? Is it fear of being seen? Is it your sales skills? Is it your fear of rejection? Sometimes we can’t see what it is – there’s a blind spot that someone else can help us identify. Ask for help! Now it’s time to revisit the 1-10 commitment scale. Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get through your blocks? Or is it time to go get a job?! I believe in you. Step into your greatness! You KNOW it’s time…  ...

What’s Your Story?

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

I spend hours every day talking with people about where they are in their business and personal life, where they WANT to be and hearing their STORY about why they aren’t there. Here are some of my favorites: “It’s the economy. People aren’t spending money on ________________.” “I have entrepreneur’s ADD.” “I have self worth issues.” “I’m growing two businesses at once and I never seem to get any traction with either one.” “I’m afraid people won’t like me.” “I’m still working on my ________________(fill in the blank – website, offerings, branding, etc. etc., etc!)” “I’m getting older and I don’t have the same energy I used to have.” “I don’t know where to find clients.” The truth is…these are ALL just stories.  Excuses. And the way to turn around every single one of these stories is simply this: MAKE A DECISION! The people telling me these stories simply haven’t made the decision to move beyond what’s holding them back. They haven’t decided that they are going to be successful and that they are willing to do whatever it takes. They haven’t decided to stop telling the story of what “was” and claim a new story. A new belief. A new way of being in the world. So what’s YOUR story? You get to make it up. Make it a good one!...

Information or Implementation?

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

I spend my days talking with people about where they are in their business and where they WANT to be… They tell me about all the ways they’re getting ready. All the information they’re gathering. How they’re getting all their “ducks in a row.” So I ask how long they’ve been doing that…and how much longer they think they’ll need to keep getting ready…and that’s where the conversation gets interesting! THAT’s where we uncover the real resistance to IMPLEMENTATION!  Underlying all that preparation and information gathering are the real fears… “I don’t want to be seen.” “What if no one buys my product, coaching, fill in the blank here_________?” “I’ll have to give up being so available to my children.” “I won’t have time for me any more.” “I don’t want to have to work THAT hard.” “There’s this voice in my head that keeps asking who I think I am??!! And I can’t get it to shut up!” “I’m afraid of being rejected.” If you’re stuck in that “getting ready” or information gathering stage…spend a few minutes today looking at what your REAL fear is and then get out there and ask someone to do business with you. Take a risk.  Be courageous. STOP gathering information and start implementing!  Only through implementation can you really know what other information and preparation you need! You can do it. I believe in you.  ...

Accepting What Is

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

Before you can make changes that will “stick” in your business or your life, you first have to accept “what is.” Too often people set goals and create strategies to take them where they want to be without first fully acknowledging where they are right now and what is true in this moment. Take a minute, right now, to accept “what is.” How much money is in your bank account? How many client appointments are in your calendar? How many sales calls do you have booked this week? Who are your biggest cheerleaders and who are the energy vampires in your life? What are the situations in your life where you need to acknowledge “what is?” Not how you’d like it to be. Not “if the other person would just see it my way” that things would change. Where do you need to simply surrender and accept “what is?” When you can fully accept what is…you are coming from a position of strength. You know exactly where you are…and NOW you are able to create a strategy to get where you want to be. You wouldn’t plan a trip without knowing the beginning and ending point.  Stop planning your life without knowing where you’re beginning…and then set your goals for where you’d like to be.  ...

Your Tool Box

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

Feel like you’ve gone to tons of workshops, read a bunch of books, listened to teleseminars galore, maybe even signed up for one of those big coaching programs and STILL don’t have the results you want? Maybe you have all the right tools and just don’t know how to use them! Your tool box might be full of everything you need to be successful, but if you don’t know which tool to use when, it’ll take you MUCH longer to get where you want to go.  You wouldn’t use a wrench to check to see if a picture you’re hanging is level, right? (Even if you’re not a person who’s familiar with many household tools, you know THAT wouldn’t work!) But maybe you’re trying to get clients through Facebook when your target market hangs out on Linked In! Or maybe you’re offering online products when your people are craving in person, live workshops! To be successful in today’s market, it takes knowing which tool to use when, to get your intended result. If you need help figuring out where your strategy is off and why you’re not getting the results you want…call me.  I can help. Your gifts are too important not to share with the world.  Get your tool box in order and figure out which tools to use when! People are waiting for you!      ...

Reasons or Results

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

Today I’m heading to the east coast to be a support coach for a business building mastermind retreat.  I’m excited to work with entrepreneurs who really get this concept: In life and in business, you have reasons or you have results!   Which do you have?  Do you have reasons why you don’t have what you want? Or have you learned that YOU are in charge of creating the results you want in your life? Are you a victim of the economy? Other people’s choices? Your limiting beliefs? Your childhood fears? Someone else’s expectations? If you don’t have what you want, don’t look for reasons (or excuses!)…change what you’re doing so you can experience a different result! Remember the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result!...

Want No Obstacles??

Posted by on in News | 0 comments

I admit I’ve always been one of those people who looks for a way to avoid obstacles! If there’s a better way to do something, I’m looking for it so that I can steer away from life and business challenges. And I think it’s one of my better qualities!  I’m really good at looking at what works and how I can make it better. And I’m good at looking at what doesn’t work and figuring out whether it CAN work or if it isn’t worth saving! HOWEVER…I came to understand this year that my fear of obstacles was causing me to create goals that weren’t big enough. I’d set a goal only as big as I could imagine the obstacles that might come up with that goal – and how I would get around them! I had created a very limiting way of being in my business and personal life.  I tried squeezing myself into little small boxes because they felt safe and I could imagine the obstacles and challenges I might face…and how I would get around them. Until one day, my soul said…”Enough!” And I was popped out of every secure, safe place I knew. Family, financial, emotional security….all gone. And obstacles?? Well they came swarming in to fill the void! I have to say it was one of the most stressful periods of my life. The good part was there was no place to hide.  (Well, good in that spiritual way – you know that place where there’s nothing else to do but trust Spirit and KNOW that it would all be OK…eventually?!) I just had to get up and show up every day. Set new goals for every part of my life. Get knocked down by some new obstacle and get back up. Lesson learned?  If I want to avoid obstacles, I’m going to have to play REALLY small! If I want to step into who I’m called to be in the world, I need to set big goals and TRUST that I’ll find my way around any obstacle that comes up.  I don’t have to know how it’s all going to turn out any more. And THAT is a huge relief! Don’t want obstacles? Don’t set...
